The Glassboat, Bristol

glassboat-flowerRESTAURANT REVIEW – BRISTOL
Bristol’s history ties the city to its waterways – as  a base for exploratory voyages to the New World. Recent developments maintain those watery themes, with bars lining the waterfront and the prestigious Arnolfini art museum prominent on the harbourside.

The Glassboat, then, is a fitting restaurant to visit – as well as a pleasurable experience on its own. As the name suggests, owners have renovated this boat, replacing walls with glass in more places than seem technically feasible.

In some areas diner overhang the water as swans glide past beneath. The dishwater colour of the river could do with improvement, though that’s no fault of the Glassboat staff. Their décor and service are immaculate – serving a modern range of flavours, with subtle zesty salads and fresh herb-infused bread. In the past, prices were high but turbulent financial times have led to an irresistible lunchtime menu priced at £8.

Highly recommended.

I was in Bristol just the other week but I missed this place. I’ll have to look out for it next time.
