Need A Dose of Christmas Cheer?

Swedish Christmas Beard Twas the night quite a few weeks before Christmas and all through the house,

Not a creature was typing, not even a mouse.

Deadlines were looming and taxes were due,

With grey skies in force and just so much to do

Whence someone was struck with a better idea

To find sparkly photos and spread Christmas cheer

Come markets, come baubles, come fir trees and schnitzel,

Buried ice giants and a cheese dish called spaetzle,

Turquoise clear beaches with white sand to spare,

Not traditionally Christmas but so what, who cares?

Just good things found in this great world outside

Get smiling, get working, cheer up, love the ride!

It’s not a traditional Christmas here in Australia either where it’s super hot but that’s not stopping me from going Christmas crazy over here! :) some day, I swear, I’m going to have a white Christmas and visit traditional Christmas markets! Thanks for all these links for feeding my Christmas craze at the mo…

Ah yes, I’ve had a couple of Christmases in the sun and there’s a completely different vibe. Most notably, it’s hard to muster up much of an appetite! Hope you get to a snowy Christmas Market one day – they’re beautiful. In the meantime, photos of Santa surfing please!

    Abi,

Nice poetry, but it would seem that you must indeed be a bit stressed out as you inaccurately referred to
spaetzle as a cheese dish when it
is actually a traditional noodle or
    dumpling dish popular in Germany,
    Austria, Switzerland, etc., which
may or may not include cheese.

Perhaps you might find the jpeg below helpful.

    Cheers,

    Everything will turn out well.

Ha! Good lord, yes you’re right. It was kasespaetzle I was thinking of (I think I had three lots in three days and the ratio of cheese to spaetzle was approzimately 10:1. I became concerned my blood would turn to cheese and that by the following morning there would be nothing left but an Abi shaped cheese.) So yes, spaetzle itself may or may not include cheese (unless you’re in Tux where the cheese may or may not include spaetzle ;-) )

Thank you so much for the cool way you brought it up. And your kind words.
