Deep Breath…
You know those letters you get from your bank or insurance company that start with “We are excited to announce..?”
The ones that go on to talk about something that’s totally and utterly unimaginably tedious unless you happen to work at that bank or insurance company? (And we won’t even venture into joke-land for those two professions. It’s just too easy. It would be a cheap shot.)
Well, dear readers, I am about to do the very same thing! I am thrilled to announce that humble old Inside the Travel Lab was listed in National Geographic Traveller as essential reading! That’s right, full, glossy, beautiful and lustrous National Geographic Traveller. I can’t decide whether it’s the equivalent of winning an Oscar or whether it’s more like the surprise of Angelina Jolie calling in to ask for haircare advice.
The astute among you (who actually click on the link to read the article – hi mum) may notice that this was published a while ago. Hardly finger on the pulse, razor-sharp action on my part.
But a) it took a while for it to sink in. And b) I felt a bit embarrassed mentioning it.
I still do, to be honest. But recent fraternizing (sic ;) ) with several Americans has prompted me to push past my awkward British reserve.
So, er, cough, splutter, shuffle. There you go.
Inside the Travel Lab’s on National Geographic Traveller.
And I’m very excited about it.

Wow! Awesome! Super-congratulations! :)
Thank you! :)
Well deserved, and I think the sentence sums you and your blog up quite perfectly!
(Though I do wonder how many people, like me, saw the headline and thought you were going to announce a baby, ha! =) )
Mum?! I never knew you’d taken up blogging…Under such a cool pseudonym ;)
Well now, OF COURSE YOU WERE!!
Massive congratulations Abi, of course this is very well deserved!
(More importantly though, don’t forget you were listed on the Hecktic Travels newsletter as essential reading- haha!)
Thank you! And thank you! I am very excited about that as well :) If I keep to my current publishing/praise schedule I should be blogging about that at around Christmas time ;)
This is wonderful Abi. Congratulations. This should send more people to your blog to read your amazing stories and see your fabulous photographs.
Well, here’s hoping! Thank you :)
Not even faintly surprised. What took them so long? I think you should start handing out awards now. Such as National Geographic Magazine gets the Inside the travel lab award for jolly good snaps. Sort of thing.
Best wishes
Durie Finch, H, Maj retd
Ha! Yes, I can just see a queue of people beating a path to my door for those awards right now! ;) Thanks for the well wishes!
How cool! Congratulations!
Thank you!

Congratulations! Even if you know that you have great content, it is so much more satisfying when others recognise your efforts. Such accolades are to be shouted about, well done.
