In full January spirit, I’m having a thorough scrub and spring clean of this site to introduce some cool new features. In the meantime, I thought I’d give you a little puzzle…
This photo certainly isn’t going to change anyone’s life. Yet it comes from one of the happiest moments in my life (which is why you’ll see it in my header, twitter avatar and so on.)
To me, it symbolises travel and exploration.
But where was it taken? All guesses welcome…

Hi, I'm Abi, a journalist who swapped a career as a doctor for a life on the road.

I have no idea, but I’ll at least guess it’s on an island.
I’m guessing a cenote in Mexico’s Yucatan, or somewhere in Malta or Spain. Tell us already! ;)
OK – a clue. It’s from a country with a bent or curvy dagger…
Googling for country flag with curved dagger brings up Oman.
Googling for a crater lake in Oman brings up the Bimmah sinkhole. Near enough, and that brings up photos of the steps leading down to the water.
So with the Sherlockian deductive powers of Sheik Google, I think it is the Bimmah sinkhole in Oman.
Congratulations to you and Sheik Google- it is the Bimmah Sinkhole ! (PS – one of the funniest comments I’ve read for a long time ;) )
