Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital, left me with plenty of lingering images. Here are a few that I managed to capture in pixels in the second city stop on my Iron Route journey…I hope you enjoy these photos of Sofia, the words will come soon.

I absolutely love your first image in this post. Gorgeous lights!
Thank you! There’s something so cosy about those lanterns, something atmospheric that modern lights just can’t pull off…
Amazing. I love how you capture the tiniest details and make them into something so beautiful!
Thank you. Sofia’s not a city built for sweeping panoramics but it does have plenty of details worth stopping to admire.
Great pictures, thanks for sharing. I’ll have to add Bulgaria to my list of places to visit!
Cheers. I only got to see the capital this time – so I’m adding Bulgaria back onto my list for the future too ;)
I love the little tagged stands all over Bulgaria!! I spent about three weeks in Bulgaria and found it to be a really great place (minus the super touristy Sunny Beach, which had its own little charms).
A few people mentioned “tags” on twitter – is that a US term for graffitti? #feellikeanumpty ;)
Love these photos. I’m a sucker for cool, old doors.
Ha! Glad someone else is! I must have hundreds of photos of them from places I’ve visited. (I’m also partial to a decorative manhole cover, as they usually have the place name and coat of arms/other symbol on them ;) )
These are gorgeous! Love the focus on patterns, and how well they work together.
Thanks Neha – was great to finally meet you in Zagreb!
Very nice photos! Sofia’s on my list of places I plan to visit next summer when I travel around Eastern Europe. So it’s nice to get a little taste of what to expect here on your blog!
Thank you! There’ll be more over the next few months so please do come back and take another look. (Or if you’d prefer, you can subscribe by email) Hope to see you again soon and I hope you have a great time in Eastern Europe.
Beautiful photos of Sofia, Bulgaria. Congratulations!!
Thank you. It is a beautiful city in the centre – just a little wild at the edge!
