Prague
Who needs cobbled streets and medieval mysteries when you can have psychedelic colours, wonky lines and hearts full of passion? This is the John Lennon wall in Prague and it’s the perfect antidote to the sobering Museum of Communism I’d just visited as part of the Iron Route Project.
According to wikipedia, the wall is owned by the Knights of the Maltese Cross; according to the Beatles, all you need is love.
I’ll be back with regularly scheduled blogging soon enough. In the meantime, peace and love, man, peace and love.
Which painting do you like the most on the John Lennon wall?
Disclosure: I visited Prague as part of my Iron Route project, sponsored by InterRail.

Ooh I love this! It would take me so long to go through everything.
It’s a lovely spot in Prague, just around the corner from the classical views as well.
I was there in August 2010…it’s certainly changed since then!
More paintings? Or just completely different ones? I wonder how quickly it changes…
Wonderful photos. I don’t know much about this wall but I do recall hearing that it was started as a way for people to express themselves and respond against communism.
I heard mixed reports about its origins – but it certainly works as a place for people to express themselves. It’s a really happy spot :)
Thanks for posting your pics. Really cool to see the changes in the wall since I was in Prague. The Hard Day’s Night cover is my new favorite.
I think I like the big yellow heart…Would be good to hear how it’s changed since you were there…
Totally different! Here’s a picture I took of an image of Lennon that has since been painted over: http://pinterest.com/pin/57069120248052794/
Me too! My daughter Courtney painted it the end of her year of teaching there. I was so sad when someone painted over it.
Hm. Sounds like a fun idea would be an instagram stream or online gallery of the changing pictures there. Although I’m sure someone has already thought of that…
How did I miss this entirely while I was in Prague? Sort of reminds me of the U2 wall in Dublin.
I missed it the first time too. It’s just tucked around a corner but it’s right near the beautiful centre.
Wow, I love how this Wall changes so much with time! None of these were then when I was there in 2010…
Here were my posts about it, such different aspects each time – http://jouljet.blogspot.com/2011/11/something.html and http://jouljet.blogspot.com/2010/11/pretty-cute-prague.html It’s a neverending piece of art, and tribute to John Lennon! Amazing!
Thanks for posting your pics! Can’t get enough!
My pleasure!
My eyes hurt after looking at these. But it was worth it. :)
Heh :) Sunglasses needed for Prague, eh? Who’d have thought it?!
I love these photos. Indeed, street art as it is and grand!
Thanks
Looking forward to seeing this next week!
Hope you managed to find it!
