Whether you simply love looking at travel photos or are intrigued by the chance to win £2000, I bring you five luscious travel photos from the Capture the Colour photo competition. Not sure what that is? Why head here for a full explanation. Wondering why I’ve been so quiet here lately? Head here for the not-so-cheery explanation. Couldn’t care less about competitions and have less interest in me than a mermaid in mascara that isn’t waterproof? Then head over here for more travel inspiration or, what the heck, just read on below…

Havana, Cuba
Like Andi from My Beautiful Adventures, I have dreams of all the travel photographs I could have taken whilst I was in Cuba if only I’d had my current camera with me. (Kids, if you can believe it, we’re talking rolls of film and pieces of paper here.) I love this photo because it captures a sense of speed and a movement towards the future whereas most images from Havana focus on the ghosts of the past.

Ottawa, Canada
Growing up where I did, I too have taken my fair share of rain-inspired images. So I couldn’t help but relate to Zhu from Correr es mi Destino when she said this:
And I love the quiet moment after a thunderstorm, when the last drops of water cling to flowers and plants.

Amed, Bali
These baskets of salt crystals drying beneath a volcano in Bali reminded me instantly of ice-cream cones so they were in. Thanks to Lash for finding them.

Galapagos, Ecuador
Rebecca from Tourist in Reality caught a shot of this crab on the black lava rock of the Galapagos Islands.

The Loch Ness, Scotland
And finally, who can resist the Loch Ness mystery? Thanks to Ceri from Not In The Pink for fueling my fascination with the legend…
How to win £2000
Anyone with a blog can enter but you need to get your skates on. The competition closes on 29th August. Once again, find all the details here.
Good luck!

Absolutely love the yellow photo. I want that car. :)
Yep. You know you’re heading out for an adventure when you climb into one of those!
Beautiful! I especially like the crab one.
Such stunning colours…
Wow, I’m honored! Thanks for the mention, Abi.
(I was actually secretly kind of aiming to impress you with green- ah hem- but if you were impressed by any of my photos, I’m honored)
Awesome!
Of these, I like the red and yellow photos a lot, too.
cheers, Lash
Ah yes. I was far too frightened to make any comments about “green” ahead of the final decision!
Love Andi’s yellow photo! It’s nice to think of Cuba in a different way.
Yep – and the colour is fantastic (and incidentally matches your avatar!!)
So beautiful! Love pic of crystal salt! so calm and peace.
Hey you, I have a question: How can we take a good pic?
Ha! Well, you can start by browsing through my presentations ;) http://www.slideshare.net/AbiKingWrites/presentations
Such beautiful photos! I’m just sad to say that I have only visited Loch Ness out of the 5, and I didn’t even get to see Nessie. It has always been a dream of mine one day to get to the Galapagos, so hopefully I can see that crab for real one day
I’ve only made it to Cuba out of all of these – perhaps that’s why they attracted my attention so much! Would love to get to them all one day, one day…
Ha, I really did think the salt was ice-cream when I first looked at it. :)
Always good to meet someone who thinks along the same lines ;-)
Stunning photos. Each one worthy of being framed and placed on a wall. I just love travel photos!
