Every ash cloud has a silver lining, as the new saying goes. This time last week, I was among the thousands of travellers who spent more time in phone queues than asleep and who devoured entire atlases of Europe, searching in vain for another way to get back to the UK.
One unexpected advantage, though, was catching some of Seville’s Feria – a week long fiesta that celebrates manzanilla sherry, sevillana dancing and some absolutely stunning clothes.
Feria takes place every year, with the metro open around the clock for all-night partying. I didn’t last beyond midnight, though, as I needed to queue even more for tickets and make even more phone calls. Unless, of course, I’m just getting old…
Here’s a glimpse inside Seville’s Feria, the hottest party in Andalucía.

Gorgeous pictures you’ve got there! Too bad I missed the Sevilla feria, looks awesome. I’m still in Macedonia and looks like I’ll be heading straight to Granada when I return – Alberto’s got a new job steps away from our home. Hope to catch u in Granada then, ciao!
Wow – that’s a change of plan! Good news for you, if bad for me. I’ll have to arrange a trip to Granada..:)
It does look worth hanging around for although a shame you couldn’t relax and enjoy the festivities if your mind was on other things
Thanks Heather. It was a strange week, I will say that!
