Just when you think you’ve done it all (Well most of it. A lot. At least half. OK, so some adventures at least) along comes something new. Welcome to canyoning…
The Canyon Video
Thanks to the Visit Costa Brava Tourist Board for the invitation. Photos & video taken with the Olmpus TG-610.
Hope you enjoyed this short video on canyoning…I’m new to both video and canyoning at the moment so I thought that this would be a great way to look twice as foolish in half the time…

awesome video! love it. wanna go back. preferably right now :-)
I especially like the shot you used at the end with the camera near to the water surface, really makes you feel like you’re diving right into it..
I like each of us jumping off one after the other ;)
WOW! Fantastic video Abigail, especially considering you’re new to it!
I simply have to try this – looks fantastic! That plunging into that water scene at 2:20 looked eerily similar to that scene in the beach. Looked like you were loving it for the most part but swear I heard an “oh sh#t ” somewhere in the vid!
Surely not! ;)
Nice video for a 1st attempt! It’s always great when the presenter is enjoying themselves.
I haven’t been canyoning, but I know of it, and look forward to trying it out. I’ve fallen out of enough rafts and kayaks to know what ice cold water and rapids feel like.
I LOVE adventure travel. Do you have more info on where in Spain you did this? I’m looking around the Costa Brava site, but not really finding anything.
Hi Ian – here’s the website for the canyoning company: http://www.basaroca.com They also organise a number of other adventure sports, although I didn’t get to try those out.
I also went coasteering for the first time this summer, which was a similar experience on (ahem) the coast. Loved it. Article in the pipelilne..!
Great video. But it brought back scary memories of when I went canyoning in Turkey about 8 years ago. Several hours of jumping from one slippy rock to another…I had no idea how exhausting it would be. Plus I’m a bit of a wimp…
Shh…Don’t tell anyone but this was pretty easy actually once we got started. All downhill…My coasteering experience was much tougher because you had to keep pulling yourself out of the sea before jumping back in and then pulling yourself out again…Quite a workout for the arms…
