A Slice of the Taff Trail

A Photo Journey Through the Capital of Wales

The Taff Trail

The Taff Trail

The Taff Trail strides through the valleys of South Wales, taking in castles, countryside and what has been optimistically described as “industrial archaeology.”I’ve strolled, cycled and even rollerbladed along its path, although I’ve never made the complete trip from the capital city of Cardiff through to the town of Brecon.

Skeleton Leaves - The Taff Trail

This photojourney travels through part of the Cardiff section, near Llandaff.

One thing that I feel British cities do particularly well is to create and maintain a sense of wilderness, even deep within their urban spaces, as though the city wrestles with the forces of nature over one simple path.

In Tokyo, New York and Paris, I found parks so manicured that they gave the impression that they’d rounded up Mother Nature and shipped her off to a nursing home.

Not so the Taff Trail.

Happy St David’s Day!

Thanks – me too. It reminds me of my hair first thing in the morning…
