Fashion Sketches for a Sparkly Bra from a Costume Designer

Sketches for a Sparkly Circus Costume

An Interview with a Costume Designer

Karen Christoffersen, Costume Designer

I love the way that travel takes me to unexpected places. While at TBEX this month, I got the chance to look behind the scenes in the Wallmans Circus in Copenhagen.Karen Christoffersen, their costume designer, introduced me to the process involved in getting the artists ready for their opening night. As with so much in the world, there’s much more to it than simply looking good.

Watch the video below to find out about the substance behind the style…

Thank Yous

Alright, so this is my first video and already I’m dishing out thank yous as though I’ve just won an Oscar (sniff!) Yet, there are a lot of people to thank. First off, the TBEX video team (@KimMance, @ReidonTravel, @MarenHogan & MyDenmarkTV) for getting me started with this video malarkey.

Second, a huge thank you to Heather from Heather On Her Travels for the encouragement, direction and great posts for anyone thinking about getting started with videos and podcasts. Heather, along with Lea from TripWolf, also provided the material of the circus performers rehearsing (we would have loved shots of the artists in the sparkly bras but, as some other guy said, you can’t always get what you want…)

Thank you also to Wallmans Circus Show for allowing me to film there and to Karen Christoffersen & Karin Odermatt for taking part in this experiment!

Thanks to the Canadian Tourist Commissionfor providing the Flip Camera and Kevin MacLeod for his wonderful music.

There I’m done. Except for thanking my mother, who has always believed in me….*

    Abi,
Who knew there was so much science behind sparkly circus bras? I’ll be looking at them in a whole new light going forward.
